Are the counselling sessions confidential?
Yes, everything discussed is completely confidential and private. The only time this would ever need to be breached is in times of danger to yourself or others, or if a minor child is in danger, as per mandatory reporting. All Phoenix counsellors are mandatory reporters.
Are your counsellors qualified?
Absolutely! Any counsellor who works for Phoenix must hold a suitable Undergraduate degree and a minimum Postgraduate level of Graduate Diploma in Counselling to be able to counsel clients. They must also be registered with PACFA, our governing body.
How long is a session?
An individual session is 60 mins, and 80 mins for couples. For your first session we ask if you could arrive 10 minutes early for administrative reasons.
Can I have a session over the phone or on Zoom?
Yes, although we recommend your first session is face to face, subsequent sessions can easily be arranged over the phone or via Zoom/Messenger video if distance is an issue. In fact we have clients from quite a distance away who we regularly counsel via Zoom video.
Do you do emergency appointments?
We endeavour to fit our clients in as quickly as possible from their initial contact, but at times there may be a short wait list. If the matter is urgent, please discuss this when phoning and we will do our best to schedule you an appointment as soon as we can.
Do you have Medicare?
Unfortunately, at this point in time, Medicare will not give counsellors a provider number, however our governing body is working hard to have this changed.
How many sessions will I need?
This is not something that can really be guessed at! It depends on many things – your presenting issue, what sort of modality we use, and how well you respond.
What form of payments do you take?
We take cash, bank transfer, credit card and debit card payments.
Should you have any other questions in regard to your counselling session please do not hesitate to contact us.
